3,392 families arrive at South Darfur camp
About 3,392 families arrived at Kalma camp near South Darfur’s capital, after clashes erupted last week between the Fur and Tarjam tribes in El Salam locality. Reports state the families are living in “inhuman conditions”. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Hussein Abu Sharati, spokesman for the displaced, said that about 3,392 families arrived at the camp from the villages of Karkara, Dembo Dembo, Miro Kabar, Dalil, Rouda, Bulbul, Dalal al Angara and Gissat Jamet.The families arrived in three batches, the spokesman explained and described the humanitarian conditions as “very bad” as they are living without shelter and food, without any assistance from humanitarian aid organizations. Abu Sharati revealed to Radio Dabanga that the authorities prevented a number of refugees from entering Nyala upon their arrival. At the same time, the spokesman announced that the total number of new arrivals at Kalma camp from the areas and villages south and east of Nyala, Labado and Muhajeriya amounts to 41,441 families.
