22 students injured in clashes

NCP-affiliated students attack a rally organized by DarfurisAt least 22 students were injured in Imam Elmahadi University in Jazeera Aba during an attack by on their protest rally on Friday.The attack was allegedly launched by students affiliated to the National Congress Party (NCP) on a rally organized by the students of Darfur Association at the university.One of the heads of the association told Radio Dabanga that they had organized the rally to demand an apology from the NCP students for the abuses and inappropriate description of Darfuris in a manner that was not political.However, they were surprised by an attack from the NCP students who used sticks, knives and batons. He also stated that a number of students are now in the hospital because of injuries they sustained.Dr Eljak Nour, dean of the faculty of arts at the university, confirmed in a press conference that clashes indeed took place and he attributed the reason to be verbal difference between students during the political rally.The dean asserted that the security bodies were able to take control of the situation and give first aid to those who were injured in the clashes.
