2 killed, 5 wounded by uniformed bank robbers in Kabkabiya.

Armed gunmen on Land Cruisers wearing military uniforms attacked a branch of El Nilein Bank in Kabkabiya town yesterday. The attack led to the killing of the security guard of the bank, Hamada Jamil, and a ten-year-old girl. Five citizens were also wounded and transferred to Kabkabiya Hospital to receive medical treatment. The incident also led to the closing of several commercial centers in the town.

An eye witness told Radio Dabanga that the gunmen attacked the bank during mid-day and couldn’t break the bank’s safe. They escaped after the military policed stationed in the town market attacked them. According to the witness, the robbers fled to a neighborhood and exchanged fire with the forces that were pursuing them.

The witness also revealed that three of the attackers were arrested after climbing a tree when their car broke down, and that they were armed with Kalashnikov rifles, besides 2 machine guns and 3 Hausers.
