15 dead, 40 injured in Sudanese highway accident
15 bus passengers were killed and about 40 others were injured in a traffic accident on the highway between Khartoum and Wad Madani, capital of El Gezira state today.
A travel bus en route from Khartoum to Sennar in eastern Sudan collided with a local bus in the area of El Mahjoub, some 15 kilometres north of Wad Madani this (Sunday) afternoon.
15 passengers died instantly. The wounded were transferred to the Wad Madani Hospital, traffic police chief, Brig. Gen. Ahmed Shomein told the press. He attributed the accident to reckless overtaking and excessive speed.
