12 students injured in attack at Nyala university
On Wednesday 12 students of Nyala University in South Darfur were injured after being attacked by National Congress Party affiliated students, supported by security personnel. Students told Radio Dabanga that on Tuesday, NCP students attacked a pro Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minawi activist, Abdullah Genki with batons and sticks causing him serious injuries. As a reaction to the attack other students began fighting with the NCP students, burning down an NCP office at the university and two motorbikes. On Wednesday, the NCP students, supported by police, security and Abu Tira (central reserve forces) entered the university attacking all students not loyal to the ruling NCP. The students said the police arrested a number of students after evacuating the university by force.
